"Bad Birthday" - Oil, 12" x 16"

This one was great fun. I found out that cupcakes dry out and sag after a few days, but icing stays remarkably stable. A slightly scalloped saucer (say that fast three times) is a nuisance to paint as an ellipse; the next time I attempt one I am going to do a grisalle, I think.

Very cool Linda!

I just know there's an intereting story behind this one. What happened to the little feller on the ground? Did the other two clowns eject him for looking too happy?

Hi Paul, I'm so glad you like this one. I'm getting really interested in still life and I've got more set up and going on - sort of theatrical, "noir" still life. I'm trying to work on them while the layers are drying on my portrait commissions.

This is fabulous; looking forward to seeing more of your theatrical still lifes.
